hi, i'm daphne stamaris and i got intocomputers in kind of a weird way, like it wasn't an "ah-ha" thing i just wanted something kind of new and different for me because i'd never worked on computers before and never really dealt much with technology

What Is A Network Administrator, so it was kind of an interesting field for me. i got my aa in computer network engineeringat pierce college. at the same time i earned acertificate in network administration

um, and i currently work here at pierce college as well i also did an internship with theit department at pierce college. kind of have a loyalty thing with piercecollege obviously. technology is always changing andthere's always something new coming out. i mean operating systems, new programs, new office suites. there's always something newthat you have to learn but that kind of the nice part of it toobecause then it's not always the same thing you don't alwayscome to work and have to do the same

exact task or, you know, have this same problem becauseevery computer is different and there are so many different things you can doin this field and so many different things coming out that it kind of expands it a lot. it's interesting being a female in a maledominated field but, um, it's actually kind of fun. i know that sounds really weird but itis. there's always something new happening,males don't expect to see me in the

field, but it, it has it's benefits for instance there is scholarship opportunities opening up for females you decide to go intocomputers. in some cases, i'd not experiencedit myself, but career opportunities more for females in the field. i wasn't prepared for the fact that just because there's a problem on onecomputer and it's happening on another

and that it's not the same problem. um, even if it's the same exactcomputer it can be a completely different problem just like very unique and very frustrating at times but very funbecause it opens doors to learning more and it's interesting.i don't really have a typical day because it kind of depends which is why this field is so awesome. but generally i try to come in and i maintain the lab forthe c and e classrooms

so i try to make sure that all thecompares are working and running i also maintained the department website for c and e. by doing so i maintain a jobsboard for students hoping that if they're having a hard time looking forjobs that that could possibly help them. i think that job market is improvingfor the field uh... there's a lot of opportunities opening up and i've noticed a lot more job offers and a lot more job openings for entrylevel positions and positions

that are good for students coming out to the field.
