when you run the football as well as texas does -- man! it really puts a lot of stress on the defense. >> bill: and the 5-time p probowler checked in and it's andre johnson all alone, down to the 10! [cheers and applause]

>> bill: 45 yards to andre >> steve: and it was a play action fake again, that gave schaub the time. as andre johnson is gonna come out inside release. and just right down the hash marks. stays wide.

that's a great throw by schaub to keep him away from prosinski. and andre johnson knew he could catch it before the hit came. >> bill: it's foster. fights his way close to the 9. paul posluszny made the stop. and the strength up front, alualu may be playing well.

and in the secondary, ross and cox are the corners. foster stays in the game on 2nd and goal. schaub to the end zone, touchdown. >> bill: we have a marker down. keshawn martin made the catch but let's check the penalty.

comes back, great protection as he stands in the pocket, takes a look at walter, he is covered. and it's a great throw, wide open. >> bill: keshawn martin, the fourth round pick out of michigan state, the rookie. >> steve: and that looked too

easy for the houston texans, both running and play action pass. >> bill: se graham with the extra point. and the texans strike first >> bill: keshawn martin with the touchdown reception. schaub 4-4 on that drive for 83

yards, marched them right down the field. >> steve: interesting, the running game got 1 yard but three of the passes were successful because of the run fake. >> bill: and that gets somebody's over 20,000 yards

passing for his career. rashad jennings at the goal line and the return to the 27. and let's take a look, steve, at the touchdown. >> steve: a little bunch formation as walter comes in, he goes behind martin. and martin does a nice job,

running right at the defender and then blakes off late and the projection that schaub had allowed martin to take his time on the route. there was all kinds of space. schaub had plenty of time and patience to make the throw. >> bill: the jaguars start from

their own 27 yard line. gabbert, center of the field, a 1st down and it's justin blackmon with the catch. gabbert starting again after reinjuring his non-throwing shoulder. he was a 10th overall pick in the draft and now in his second

and kareem jackson has had a brate-through season. on 1st down, jalen parmele stacked up. j.j. watt was the first to meet him. >> steve: and j.j. watt is becoming a star in the league. only in his second year and for

a guy in the league that little, there are an awful lot of 99 jerseys in the stands. they are everywhere. this guy has taken the town by storm and has played every bit as good as any veteran in the nfl. >> bill: 10 and a half sacks

he's got to see that quicker. the texans send too many people. no missing it. that is a sack that blaine gabbert had to see. just teeng akol to get rid of it. >> bill: and the ruling at field, a fumble and recovery by

houston. >> steve: that's interesting. because that player went on and on and a couple of houston texans were playing and then blown dead. and what it is, the empty hand. if gabbert's hand it empty when it went forward -- i don't think

so. i think that's an incomplete wow. that's a different angle and makes it look like maybe it was a fumble. >> bill: i don't think the houston defense was expecting that.

they stayed on the field. > steve: as did the offense. both teams were very surprised how that was called. nobody was aware it was called a >> bill: beautiful mid-november day here in houston. they are checking blaine gabbert's arm.

empty backfield, 3rd and 5. schaub intended for andre johnson who was fairly well covered by derek cox. >> steve: and this is a throw that schaub will make to andre johnson on a double move, working against cox. you throw it to andre johnson to

calvin johnson, other receivers covered like that, you look the other way but with andre johnson, you take a shot. when you are covering a guy like that, you have to finish. >> bill: ross is back deep to field the pupt which he does at the 20.

28 yard line, a gain of 5. let's check in with j.b. in new york. >> james: he has won three straight. >> bill: and rg-3 with the touchdown and it's 7-zip. >> james: back to bill macatee and steve tasker.

>> bill: j.b. and coach cower, thank you very much. and it's chad henne here at quarterback, the bobbled snap, the give to parmele. parmele came in with only 8 carries for 18 yards. j.j. watt made the stop after a gain of 1.

>> steve: you think about chad henne, second round draft pick by miami in 2008. and last year, interestingly enough -- as you look at blaine gabbert nursing the injury. chad henne previously had an injury to the left shoulder. >> gus: and the word on gabbert,

a bruised elbow and his return is "probable." and henne is nearly picked off. but it skipped off the ground. so that'll bring up 4th and 4. >> steve: the ball comes out on time, as it's got to against the texans defense. but that's obvious that the

defensive backfield for houston is not retreating. they are so confident in their front's ability to get pressure. they know the football is coming out very quickly so they know it's a short pass and the safeties stay right where they are at and have a chance to get

the football. >> bill: bryan anger, the rookie out of cal has had a great a line drive fielded by martin. >> bill: aerial coverage over reliant stadium on this beautiful day in houston, provided by directv. >> steve: that was the eighth

wonder of the world when i played there, but not because i was in it. >> bill: the texans lead 7-0. and foster, big hole left side, close to the 1st down. aaron ross made the stop. >> steve: this is not a stretch play.

it's a pretty straight forward run play off the left side. gonna follow his tight end -- well, fullback, casey. and it is an isolation and foster just breaks off the block. well executed. that is just a numbers game.

the texans could match up number on number. >> bill: spotted at the 39. so 1st and 10 for houston. and he'll be stopped for a loss, swarmed under by the jacksonville defense, led by c.j. mosely. >> steve: and the jacksonville

jaguars did a great job. he is gonna get to the corner and out of nowhere you see ross come up and get the corner. thset the edge of the defense and nowhere to cut back. great job by jacksonville. that's how you stop the stretch but on the one time you don't

stop it, it's a big gain. but that was an excellent play by all seven on the font for >> bill: and schaub, underneath, ca caught, owen daniels who missed last week with a back injury. 7th year out of wisconsin. one of fine tight ends in the

national football league. >> steve: we were talking about the game and how the texans would play it and you know they are gonna come out with both guns playing. but a guy like daniels, he needs to be 100 percent healthy. otherwise you might want to make

sure he is 100 percent before you put him in there. there's no reason to take a chance with a key player in hastance. >> bill: 3rd and 2. and the ball slips away. schaub able to fall on it. another fine play by mosley.

>> steve: i think schaub just losses the -- loses the hand -- noy, it's -- no, it's swiped. great play. >> bill: another nice defensive series by jacksonville. >> steve: mosley did get a hand on it and knock it away. tremendous pressure, great

effort. >> bill: so donnie jones to punt it for houston. aaron ross is back deep. and ross to the 13. >> randy: ludes the first -- eludes the first couple of guys but brought down. a 54-yard punt and a

>> bill: the texans coming off a tough physical contest with the bears, which they won 13-6. the jaguars have had 10 days off since their eighth loss in 9 games, against the colts. (crowd yelling) >> bill: the crowd getting into on 1st down, henne.

in the seam! justin blackmon. justin blackmon, who came in with 26 catches for 250 yards and a touchdown here in his rookie season. and that is a huge play. >> steve: henne had some time, but not much, as they pick up

the blitz and blackmon runs the post route and keeps it alive. that's how you stop pressure. you make 'em not want to bring it because they have been burned by it. >> bill: there have been times when blackmon has just disappeared here in his rookie

season but that play was good for 63 yards. (whistle) >> gus: and henne has to take a time-out. so thegs are gonna talk it over. 3:50 left to go in the first. >> steve: you, about the play to

blackmon, a guy who is, you know, be very high draft pick, as you said you and now trying to find himself and acclimate himself into the offense. watch this -- oh. parmele steps up and picks up the blitz and gives henne just enough time to get rid of that

football. blackmon waits tell the last minute to switch hands with the football and gets out of bounds. >> bill: the big priority for jacksonville in the off-season was to get blaine gabbert help and they brought in robinson who had a spectacular year in

dallas. the draft has been a disaster at the wide receiver spot. but the transition to sundays hasn't been easy for blackmon. 1st and 10. caught by shorts. down inside the 15 to the 13 yard line.

kareem jackson made the stop. in honor of veterans' day, for every point scored in the absolute to service games, the league donates $100 to the nonprofit partners. to join the salute and learn more visit nfl.com/salute. jacksonville threatening after

the big play to blackmon. henne. to the end zone. blackmon, got it. -- no. he lost it. >> steve: he had it for a moment. and didn't finish the process of

catching it in the end zone. >> bill: the continuation. you have to hang on to the football when you hit the ground. >> steve: watch as he comes down and -- oh, look at the job by jackson to get his hand in and pull that ball loose.

reaches all the way around, gets a hand on it and wrenches it free and the ball comes free as they roll over. you got to come up with the football in the end zone. after the play is over, you have to stand up and really just hand it to the official.

>> bill: oh, that is awfully close. >> referee: this will be a 30-second time-out. >> steve: they didn't challenge they just took a time-out. >> bill: are you surprised they haven't challenged this? >> steve: no.

this is exactly why the rule is in place. he goes down and you have to finish it. in the end zone, you really literally have to get up and hand the football to somebody. and this comes down and he loses it on the tackle.

you see he has it as he rolls over and in the back yard playing on thanksgiving, i will give you that catch. but in the nfl, it's a no-go. >> bill: first of all, i don't believe you. third and 5. no challenge.

>> bill: empty backfield. 5 receivers in the part for launches it, and it's marcedes lewis and that one will count. 13 yards and marcedes lewis went up and got it. >> steve: chad henne is playing pretty well. two tremendous throws at the end

of this drive. have helped jacksonville have a chance to tie this up. marcedes lewis going up against the two defensive backs. that's quinn and that is a mismatch. marcedes lewis is enormous. if you put a throw like that in

the end zone, not too many defensive plaque backs can go up and defend it. >> bill: and it's tied with 2:56 to go. marcedes lewis in his sixth year out of ucla, tremendous pro bowl season in 2010 and that was his third touchdown ca

>> bill: that was an impressive drive, the big play to blackmon and four plays overall. it took just a minute and a half and we're tied at 7. >> steve: how good did chad henne look on that drive? jacksonville fans are probably sitting in florida thinking,

"where has he been?" >> bill: chad henne led jacksonville on their only touchdown drive of the night 10 days ago against indianapolis. >> steve: and they are thinking that in miami where he was a second round draft pick and never looked that good.

>> bill: martin back deep. from 5 yards deep in the end zone, he is hammered as he crosses the 15. let's take another look, steve, at the touchdown. >> steve: marcedes lewis is gonna -- end up working against quinn and manning.

he is gonna come out and give a little hesitation move and then slip to the end zone. the pass and high and to the back of the end zone and i tell ya, that's almost impossible. when the throw is perfect and you are as big as lewis is, it's gonna be a touchdown.

great throw, great execution. >> bill: and the form and the production that led him to a pro bowl a couple of years ago. schaub into the flat, and it's casey, the fullback. and he's got a 1st down for >> steve: and that's another play action pass that gives

schaub all kinds of time. he had plenty of time and unlike a lot of teams that have to get with young quarterbacks, having to get rid of it, the texans' matt schaub can just scan the field and pick the open guy. >> bill: and it's foster. tripped up.

at the 30 yard line. otherwise that would have been good for a bunch more. allen got him by a shoelace. >> steve: and houston, 8-1, winning games every way you can imagine. they can run the football and throw it but the fact that their

quarterback can drop back in a deep drop and scan the field and has time to do it, that's something that a lot of teams in the nfl at this point of the season haven't been able to do. >> bill: 2nd and 8, and a big hole! forsett.

and inally pushed out of bounds at the 40. >> steve: what a great cut by the hole is not very big. they stretch the play to the outside and watch how small the crease is that he slips through, allu.gh the arm tackle of and he has taken the wrong angle

and it's a big play up the sideline. >> bill: 30 yards, down to the 40 before dawan landry pushes him out of bounds. the texans are back in business. play action, schaub. deep. andre johnson had it but

couldn't bring it in. derek cox had the coverage. >> steve: derek cox was hanging on for dear life. and matt schaub had all the time in the world to wait for andre johnson to run through the backfield, one on one behind the safety and they are that close

to another big play. cox with his hand on the left hip of andre johnson, gets a little bit of help doing that but not enough for a penalty. >> bill: schaub. pushed out of bounds at the 37 yard line by cox. >> steve: every good running

team will say that but it's not by chance. arian foster, ben tate, not in the lineup today, and justin for1erk9 the three guys are all high quality running backs, and none more than arian foster. he is an elite running back. and when you've got an offensive

line and a passing game that can complement that, the defense has a handful to defend and we are seeing it today. >> bill: that will take us to the end of the 1st quarter. we'll return to houston after thesemessages. you're watching the nfl on cbs.

thinking about the houston texans and their ability to stop the run, this is not a complicated run scream, they -- scheme, they go heavy up front and tight formation. the texans are confident in their ability to stop the run but right now jacksonville

getting it done and no question chad henne has put them on their heels a little bit with the passing game. >> bill: parmele stays in the backfield. on 1st down. parmele finds a hole. fights his way to the 33.

james made the stop and once again let's check in with the fellas in new york for an update. >> james: aaron rodgers>> bill: he throws the touchdown pass and they lead detroit 7-3. >> james: back to bill and steve.

>> bill: gentlemen, thank you. 2nd down for jacksonville. we are tied at 7 here in a lot of people thought this might have been over by the national anthem. but jacksonville has played well and that's caught by cecil shorts.

and there's nothing between him and the end zone! wow! what a stunning play. 67 yards from henne to cecil >> steve: good defense is about tackling. first guy to the football, make it good but a missed tackle

turns into a touchdown and an enormous touchdown for a 10-yard hitch against jackson, missed tackle, loses his footing a little bit. and shorts just runs inside around dobbins and that's it. you don't get three chances in the nfl.

if the first two guys don't make the tackle, you're done. >> bill: and that stuns the crowd here in houston. scobee with the extra point. and the jacksonville jaguars looking for the upset. here in week 11, take the lead on the touchdown pass from chad

>> bill: back in houston, jacksonville with two 81-yard touchdown drives, each featured a passing play of over 60 yards. 67 yards, henne to shorts. and the jaguars have the lead, 14-7. 12:31 left to go in the half. chad henne in there are blaine

gabbert. 153 yards and 2 touchdowns. martin brings it out of the end zone. martin, up the sideline, and brought down at midfield. mike harris might have saved a 54 yards on the return by keshawn martin.

>> steve: that's a great block right up front. right between where the wedge would normally be, slips up in between the blockers. right there he finds the opening. just runs through an arm tackle and that's one of the things a

returner in the nfl has to do. nobody can bring you down with an arm or hand because usually you are running too fast. but a great job by the young receiver. one more way he can contribute. >> bill: returned into jacksonville territory so the

texans will start first down and 10 from the 48. keep it on the ground on 1st down. tough running inside, down to the 46. tyson alualu who has been very active this year made the stop. >> steve: this is one of those

run plays just like the run plays everyone else runs. they just bring the guard around and that's why the offense is a handful. they have the plays that everybody else has but they also have the stretch play, plus the play action that comes off of

such a versatile offense that the defense has to be so disciplined. they just don't do it for four quarters. >> bill: play action, schaub and it's caught by andre johnson for a 1st down. drox derek cox made the tackle

but they will move the chains and now back to j.b. and coach. >> james: rg-iii's touchdown. >> bill: the play action and this pass to robinson from 49 yards out, 14-3. >> i think i embarrass bill macatee when i call him "the martial artist."

>>>> bill: j.b., thank you very much. and it's justin forsett with a great second effort and close to >> steve: he makes a move in the middle of this run that is spectacular. watch as he gets this ball just past the line of scrimmage,

right there. just stops both feet and steps around prosinski. and nothing but air. prosinski, he gets blocked by andre johnson coming in. every getting involved. you know, all the coaches for this texans team say they are

really hard on each other and all play very hard every play. that's an example. andre johnson block. >> bill: and they go to forsett again and it's a 1st down for offensive line, inside the 20. russell allen made the stop. >> steve: and this is andre

johnson on the last running we asked kubiak, what is the team like? and he said, "all the the guys are really hard on each other." and all the playoffs teams i have been a hard of, the guys are hard on each other. and you have andre johnson

knifing in with a block on the safety, then you know everybody's bought in. and it's a statement about the offense. >> bill: the texans on the move. foster, back inside. just a great move down close to the 10.

landry made the stop. and let's take a lk at this week's edition of the "task force." >> steve: as you saw, another example of the stretch pray. and the running back keeps his depth so when somebody gets off their feet, he has plenty of

time to find the hole. they are so far away from the blockers on the second level that they can see so much of the field from left to right, they can pick their spot, find the opening and make good yards. >> bill: foster. finds running room inside the

hurt on that. and ross makes the tackle and he did not get up. that hurt him. >> bill: the trainers taking a look. the clock stops with 8:52 left in the half. >> steve: that's one more thing

that the jacksonville jaguars would not like to deal with: another injury to a key defender. (applause) >> bill: they are missing mathis. >> steve: and dawan landry, as well.

>> bill: and without the top to linebackers. >> steve: and he starts to walk off. here you see what happens. and it's terrance knighton coming in to land on his foot. that's what did it. it was friendly fire.

that's what happens a lot to defenders. >> bill: so from the 4. 1st and goal. russell allen brought him down just short of the goal line. >> steve: you see how difficult it is to defender arian foster. and really the whole field is up

for grabs in this stretch run you see how he stops, going to the right, comes way back to the left and it looks like he is goinged wide and then -- going wide. the defenders have to be so developed. >> bill: foster with 12

touchdowns to lead the nfl. 10 rushing and 2 receiving. 2nd and goal. schaub, will throw it to the end and it's james casey. >> steve: this, once again, an example of the play action. kyle bosworth is caught in no-man's-land.

and out of position to cover. casey, right there. he gets up, thinks the ball is coming to the outside and has to retrute and get back -- retreat but too late. >> gus: and after the keshawn martin kickoff returned, it's graham to tie thgs up and we

are even at 14 with 7:52 left to go in the half. >> bill: james casey who played his college ball down the road at rice with the 1-yard great athlete. he played all over the field for the owls, defensive end, quarterback, running.

and keshawn martin provided the boost with the 54-yard kickoff return. we are tied at 14. >> steve: one thing about how this game has turned out to be such a close one and jacksonville on the other side of the field, if they can get

out of their own way and not turn the football over, they can play with the houston texans, and they are proving it. >> bill: very different than their encounter in week two which was dominated by the texans. jennings on one hop finds a hole

and takes it across the 30. that's where chad henne and the jaguars will take over. henne has been a shot in the arm for the jacksonville offense since blaine gabbert 1-point and 5 of 7 and 2 touchdowns, one to marcedes lewis and then the big play to cecil shorts.

>> steve: and he has had a couple of big plays that set the jaguars up to stay in this game. that one, of course, the second touchdown that gave them the lead, only to be answered by but henne getting it done. >> bill: henne to throw again, underneath to parmele who is

dropped immediately by darryl sharpton who was activated yesterday. they thought he would be ready by training camp. they need him back because tim dobbins is banged up and, of course, cushing out for the >> steve: and the texans

defense, they put a guy in who hant played in almost a year, a testament to what he can get down but also they need all hands on deck. >> bill: second and 9. parmele finds running room and a 1st down for jacksonville. >> steve: one of the things

that's happening here and the reason that jacksonville is having success running the football is they have gone heavy. they have tinds, big extra offensive tackle and the three big guys, forcing the texans to put the defenders on the field

that jacksonville wants on. the texans have to go base package. they can't put extra defensive backs on the field and shut down the paex. they -- passing game. they are hurting them with play ac

action. >> bill: and they go back to the ground with parmele, fighting his way for a couple. >> steve: i spoke to wade phillips on the phone, the defensive coordinator, right there. this is the guy, right here.

he's pretty confident in the defensive group and well he should be. he is pretty confident in their ability to stop the run but i think he anticipated playing the defenders he wanted to play. jacksonville is starting to dictate personnel and i think

catching the texans a little bit off guard. >> bill: jacksonville with 212 total yards already, facing 2nd and 8. henne gets rid of it and it's lewis all alone. marcedes lewis is having a big day, down inside the 30.

a 26-yard gain. >> steve: marcedes lewis up here. goes up, through the middle of the linebackers and then crosses underneath the cleared-out area. and henne standing in the pocket, takes a throw down. i believe be that was bar win

who gets him on the ground. but lewis coming up big for the jaguars. >> bill: and jacksonville on the move once again. against this fine houston defense. again finds some running room down inside the 25 to the 24.

brooks reed made the stop. >> steve: that's an effective run. even the fans here in houston, as well as the players, are a little bit shocked how effective jacksonville is and you talk about what's happened to the team.

if they can hang on to the football and not turn it over and mind their ps and qs, they do have some talent up front. >> bill: rashad jennings has checked in in the backfield on 2nd and 6 and he is met in the that was daryl sharpton. welcome back.

>> steve: back in the lineup for the first time in a long time. he's been battling knee, quadricep and hip injuries and gets there so fast. brad meester tries to get over and cut him off but he couldn't get there, timed it perfectly and ended up right in the face

of parmele. >> bill: sharpton has been out for a year after tearing a quad muscle last year. and it's 3rd and long for the jaguars, trying to keep the drive going. henne from the gun. flushed from the pocket.

and he'll have to run out of bounds. and that'll be short of the 1st down by a wide margin. >> steve: that's not altogether a bad play for jacksonville. watch the coverage. have you five defensive backs all over the field, everybody

drops back into coverage, including barwin who ends up running him out of bounds. played third and long and the texans put in the light package and the secondary coverage in there and dared him to throw it. henne did the right thing. >> bill: joshua scobee, that is

good from 43 yards. last week was his first >> kevin: 43-yard field goal from josh scobee gives jacksonville the 3-point lead. 3:53 to go in the half. this has been a more impressive game than -- competitive game than people thought.

>> steve: but pl of ti to answer the field goal from >> bill: keshawn martin who had a good return the last time he had the opportunity. this time will take a knee five yards deep in the end zone. coming up on the "verizon halftime report," join j.b.,

dan, shannon, boomer and coach for the scores and highlights from week 11, all coming up on the "verizon halftime report." chad henne has been marvelous. since blaine gabbert was injured. >> steve: they are in the midst of the start of a 7-game season

and it'll be interesting to see how it finishes. >> bill: that's what mike mularkey told his guys. now it's down to seven games. schaub, center of the field, andre johnson, who was wide open and a big play for the texans. chris harris made the stop after

a gain of 23. >> steve: once again, lots of time for schaub and the bunch formation. the receivers slowed out and it's -- explode out and the defensive backs are in a zone coverage. and andre johnson runs to a

vacant spot, right where schaub expected him. >> bill: in his 10th year out of miami, spent his entire career here at houston. toward the sideline, owen daniels pushed out of bounds, just short of midfield. 48 yard line.

that was good for 5. >> steve: now this will take us to the 2-minute warning. it looks like the texans have no interest in getting a play off. >> bill: the texans with all three of >> bill: the texans trailing by 3.

two minutes to go in the 1st half. we are approaching 500 yards of offense combined. 2nd and 4 for houston, underneath, caught by daniels. 1st down. inside the 45. down to the 44.

posluszny and allen combined to make the stop. >> steve: and they will go no huddle here, trying to get closer. >> gus: and they run to football to foster who has another 1st down down to the 31. posluszny made the stop and now

they take the time-out after a gain o >> bill: 1:34 left to play in the half. matt schaub, 116 yards and 2 touchdowns. houston with 13 first downs on 30 plays. schaub, lofts it up the sideline

and intended for kevin walter fighting doxz all the way. that stops the clock with 1:28 left to go in the half. kevin walter, 337 yards and a couple of touchdowns coming into week 11, in his 10th year out of eastern michigan. >> steve: and having the

time-outs, that allows them to hand the ball off, keeping the defense of the jacksonville jaguars honest in run and pass. >> bill: schaub to andre johnson, tried to get out of bounds and he does. stopped by derek cox. >> steve: this is schaub doing

the right thing, goes out late to his left, looks down the middle of the field, knowing all the time he is gonna throw it to the wide side and andre johnson. great, veteran quarterback always looks off the defense, even in a quick throw if he can do it.

>> bill: and 6 catches for 119 yards for andre johnson. now facing 3rd and 3, empty walter was pummelled as he tried to bring in the football. >> steve: and that's gonna force the field goal attempt. this was almost -- as kevin walter comes out -- prosinski

kind of leads with his head. and in this day and age, he makes helmet to helmet contact. and i don't have a problem with that, i am old school you bobcats but in this day and age, i thought that was a helmet to helmet hit. >> bill: and it's shayne graham

on to try the field goal and he's got it. 16 of 18 in field goal tries this season. the fourth most accurate kicker in nfl history. and once again, we're tied. >> steve: i think mike mularkey's got to be very, very

pleased that his defense rose up and held houston to a field goal try. even though it was successful. enough time to make something if they want to try it. >> bill: and coming up with the "verizon halftime report," join us for all the latest nfl scores

and highlights from week 11. all coming up on the "verizon halftime report." so a very competitive football game. the texans with the best record in the a.f.c. at 8-1 and jacksonville has struggled all season long, coming in at 1-8.

>> steve: it's got all the makings of a trap game. and houston has an enormous game thursday, on thanksgiving. >> bill: the texans' defense dominated jacksonville in week two. jacksonville set a franchise low for total yards with 117, the

third fewest passing yards in franchise history with 52 and the time of possession, less than 17 minutes, also a franchise low. >> steve: and that goes into the equation of this game. wade phillips has to think, "this is a different team than

we faced back then." >> bill: jennings back deep and fielded thea the 1, jennings brings it across the 20, close to the 24. help the victims of disasters like super storm sandy. text red cross to 90999 to make a donation to the disaster

relief fund. cbs cares. >> steve: with 1:03 to go and one time-out for jacksonville and chad henne, the back-up quarterback, they are gonna go spread and it looks like they will make an effort to get their own field goal attempt.

>> bill: one time left. -- time-out left. and henne trying to set up the that goes nowhere. bradie james anticipating the play and that results in a loss of 3 yards. >> steve: kind of an all or nothing for jacksonville.

they've got to make a chunk of yardage a couple of times with a time-out to get the opportunity. >> bill: henne. goes underneath and that's michael spurlock was the intended receiver. >> steve: and r the houston, think about stopping the clock

and hit their own big play with another chance. this game is all of a sudden turning as fast as a top. >> bill: 3rd and 13. 31 seconds to go in the half. >> steve: if they don't get the 1st down, look for houston to take a quick time-out.

>> bill: parmele. >> steve: there they took it. there's the time-out. >> bill: that'll bring up 4th. good penetration by j.j. watt. >> steve: and i don't have a problem with that from jacksonville, either. force them to use the time-out.

and this is a team, as we said in the open, every bad thing that happened to them has turned into a touchdown. they don't want to give up a bad play and end up having it cost them points so they took the conservative route, handed it and it's not the worst thing in

the world to punt the football away. and if houston can do it with only wonl time-out -- only one >> bill: an animated conversation on the jacksonville sideline keshawn martin is back deep. the texans could have pretty

good field position after this, although bryan anger, the rookie out of cal, continues to have an outstanding start. >> steve: offensive line play go -- houston may go for a block. they went for the block. >> bill: and angled to the >> steve: that's a great punt.

an outstanding punt. you can't give up a touchdown when the ball lands out of got good distance, off in the face of the heated rush. that's why this young punter is gonna be in this league for a lock long time. >> bill: they will spot it at

the houston 35 yard line. >> steve: there's a lot going on in the last two minutes of this as houston was forced to take the field goal, got the stop and now time-outs and field position are gonna continue to be an issue, right until the very last tick of the clock.

>> bill: the texans took their opening possession right down an impressive drive. but since then the jacksonville defense has played pretty well. andre johnson. and a quick time-out. the clock stops with 17 seconds left in the half.

that was good for 13 yards. >> steve: with 17 seconds, you can throw a deep crossing route and still get up and down it if it's inside field goal range. and if it's the last play of the half, is it a hail mary or the long field goal, at best a coin flip?

but either way, i think you got to go for points, even if it's an outrageous field goal. if you don't want to do that, throw for the hail mary and see if you can make it happen. >> bill: mike mularkey's jacksonville team has responded the way he had hoped.

battling the houston texans here in the opening half. tied at 17. foster in the backfield. steps up. fires -- committee. -- incomplete, at the feet of >> steve: he had him. it was underthrown.

as you see the ball come out, andre johnson will pivot and move to the sideline and the ball is at his feet. just a little bit underthrown. >> bill: so 12 seconds left in the texans out of time-outs. >> steve: i think we have our answer as to the hail mary or

impossible field goal. >> bill: jacksonville trying to win for the first time here at reliant stadium since 2009. we have a flag down. and the pass is incomplete, intended for foster. >> steve: 6 seconds to go. this is going to be a hold.

>> referee: personal foul, grabbing the fascing, defensive -- facemask, defensive. 15 yards. automatic 1st down. >> steve: we talked about the fumbles and turnovers for the jaguars but penalties are a part of that.

and it's mincy -- i don't know if i agree with that call. that was a quarterback ducking down to plant his foot to get out of there and running into the guy. i don't like that game at all. >> bill: the game has been surprisingly penalty-free.

so with 6 seconds left, schaub. over to the sideline. and walter gets out of bounds and they will be able to try the field goal. >> steve: perhaps a 50-yard field goal from this point. and that -- both teams having the football

in the last two minutes. i think both teams having the ball twice in the last two and a half minutes. and it's led to two field goals for houston. >> bill: this will be a 50-yard attempt for shayne graham. to give the texans the lead

heading into the locker room. and it bangs the upright -- no good. and that's how a very entertaining 1st half will end. >> steve: he had the distance. but it curved to the outside as it goes up, you'll see how is moves from right to left.

turning, turning, and doink, right off the upright. and if that ball had gone over the top of the upright, that would have been good. but from 50 yards out, this is a big kic >> bill: mike mularkey has seen his jacksonville jaguars fight

hard here in the 1st half, tied at 17. and we'll be back with the "verizon halftime report" after this message and a word from your local station. you're watching the nfl on cbs, to start the 2nd half. bill macatee and steve tasker.

how surprised are you at what we saw in the opening half? >> steve: i think be the only surprising thing is how mistake 23r50e7 the jacksonville jaguars -- mistake-free the jacksonville jaguars played. they did it in the 1st half, mistake-free, and had two leads.

they have answered the houston texans and that's tough to do on the road. >> bill: and chad henne? >> steve: his ability to work the offense, and he seemed to be managing the calls at the line extremely well and got them a couple of big plays.

one to cecil shorts and one to blackm >> bill: the jaguars have the ball to start the 3rd quarter. and let's look at the highlights from the 1st half. >> steve: it looked pretty hard early for the jaguars. i mean, it looked all too easy

with the first touchdown of the houston texans. and then chad henne comes in and finds lewis for the touchdown, a big play to shorts for the touchdown and then the play action to schaub and the texans answer. it's been back and forth.

this is the difference. that kick hits the upright. >> bill: the 8-1 texans tied with the 1-8 jacksonville play action to start. henry to blackmon! and they go right back to work. kareem jackson made the stop after a gain of 39 yards.

>> steve: starts out tight to the line of scrimmage, widens his release and then breaks back to the inside on the post. jackson doing a nice job trying to stay with him but with all the tame that henne -- time that henne had, that's impossible to stop.

and jacksonville jaguars saw something in the 1st half and jumped right on top of it in the second. justin blackmon finally having that break-through game that people have been waiting for. let's take another look at the >> steve: the safeties disappear

and it leaves jackson all by himself with the whole middle of the field to defend. marcedes lewis draws the safety up and there's though one behind >> bill: blackmon, 3 catches for 117 yards. >> bill: opening possession of the 2nd half.

tries to get back to the line of scrimmage. >> steve: that play was made by watt, almost made the tackle himself. but j.j. watt continuing to play well in the run game. and you see the brace on his elbow, a little bit hampered by

that but he has got a motor that is unmatched. he is tall and long and has made a difference. >> bill: one of the things they will do with j.j. watt is to move him around, put him on different places on the field and try to get him in situations

where he can make plays. and he makes a lot of them. 3rd and 10 for jacksonville, trying to keep this drive going. and right at the sticks. and it looks like he's got it by a yard. >> steve: this is the kind of offense that jacksonville has

wanted all season. blackmon on the inside slot, works underneath cecil shorts who goes deep, catches the out-route and the snap throw with great velocity by henne. >> bill: a gain of 11. 1st and 10 for jacksonville. they were 0-9 on third down

conversions in week two. and sharpton with the stop. a gain of 3. >> steve: and you can already tell here early in the 2nd half that the houston texans talked to each other. they wanted a piece of parmele. they are a proud group.

and this jacksonville jaguars have surprised them and i think embarrassed them a little bit. i don't think they gave jacksonville the opportunity or at least a chance in the pregame warm toup work up to this game to think that they could run on them and i think it surprised

them. >> bill: they keep it on the ground at 2nd and 8. fighting for tough yards down to the 22. >> steve: and up till now, it's been the jacksonville running game that has been the difference, allowing them to

force the texans to honor the run, leading to big pass plays. and as long as parmele can threaten them with that, they are not gonna be able to defend the pass as well as they'd like. that ball was jolted lose by joseph who has been tremendous for the texans.

>> steve: and spurlock needs to catch that. he kind of gets his head around but the ball is in on him before he is ready for it and it's behind him. if henne could have put that a little bit more accurately to the outside, it would have been

a completion. but he has to make that catch. >> bill: so we'll see josh scobee try the 40-yard field goal. perfect. and so the jacksonville jaguars regain the lead. >> bill: eight plays on the

drive. it ends with the 40-yard field goal by josh scobee. and we get the word, blaine gabbert's return is now doubtful. >> steve: the better chad henne plays, the worst the injury becomes.

>> bill: he'll be on i.r. if this keeps up. and it's a big hole up the middle. >> steve: he tripped. >> bill: barwin stumbles. >> steve: oh, he tripped. he was through the first point of attack and perfectly timed

and right here, it's gonna be a footrace. and he falls down. >> bill: and it was scobee who made him try to change direction and that's where he lost his footing. >> steve: the 30 yard line jumped up and grabbed his foot.

and that was it. >> bill: so houston goes to work from their own 33. they trail by 3. stretch run. trying to get to the edge and out of bounds. tuesday on cbs, see why america has made "vegas" tv's new number

one show. tuesday, only cbs. >> steve: once again, thetexans come out after halftime and run the stretch play. tyson alualu and lane pushing it to the sidelines for a 1-yard g gain.

it's interesting, after the coaches have had a chance to look at the other team, the first drives are telling about what they saw and what they want to do in the 2nd half. >> bill: play action. schaub under pressure. and sacked.

tried to get away. but couldn't from c.j. mosley. mosley is the veteran who has come in and played well for he spent time with minnesota, the jets and cleveland. and that resulted in a loss of 8 >> steve: he runs a stunt to the outside with alualu who comes on

the inside. and then, you know, schaub didn't have time to look down the football field as he avoided the rush. >> bill: 16 first downs for the and the there a to foster, trying to find running room. and shot blocks thought about

block prosinski and look at this! the ball is loose. and jacksonville says they have it -- and they do! >> steve: this play turned into an atrocity for the houston arian foster, turned to the left and a great job of punching it

out by prosinski and i think that derek cox deliberately fumbled it forward. i like the play. and it turns out right, but it's a risk. and, of course, it's punched out by prosinski. -- posluszny.

and -- no, that wasn't collaborate. but no question that he is inbounds. they will look at this. the only question is, is he inbounds or couching any part of the white? >> bill: back in reliant

and let's take another look. they are still reviewing the play upstairs. >> steve: and chick, the ball is there under his chin. and i think there he gains control of it. but is he on the line at that point?

if you look at this angle, where does he gain control? i don't know that you can say he didn't have control. and i think this is going to stand up as a turnover. >> referee: after review of the play, the ruling on the field is the result of the play will be

1st and 10, jacksonville. >> bill: and it's clete blakeman confirming the turnover and it's jacksonville, already leading by >> steve: that play was bad from the very start. no question, jacksonville has figured out the stretch play to the left said and they are

making the texans pay for it. and arian foster trying to make something out of nothing, fumbled the football away. >> bill: and they have bottled up foster today, only 41 yards. keep it on the ground to wrapped up by bradie james at the line of scrimmage.

>> steve: i think the way this game has gone, the texans have to convince jacksonville that they can stop the run. they have not done it thus far. jacksonville continuing, because this game is close, and they have a 3-point lead, they can run the football as often as

they want and the texans are gonna have to prove to them it's a detriment for them to keep handing it off. >> bill: 2nd and 10. underneath. spurlock. stopped just short of the goal >> steve: and this is gonna be

close to a 1st down. spurlock inside. pivots and coming back to the hash. and henne, the one thing about him we have always seen, in miami and here, he has got a very strong arm and today it's been extremely accurate, as

bill: so they give him just short of the 1. but enough for a 1st down. so 1st and goal for henne continues to put up outstanding numbers. >> steve: he was down before he got in the end zone. watch his knee and shoulder.

just short. right there is the ball and there is his knee. excellent call by the official. good spot. >> bill:" i" formation. parmele, the deep back. they give it to him. and it's bradie james with a big

hit. and jacksonville denied the end >> steve: and as bad as it looked a moment ago for the houston texans, this could be an enormous boost in confidence if they get a goal line stand here. and parmele, short of the goal tremendous job by the

linebacker. that's how it's done. >> bill: james, the former cowboy who played for wade phillips in dallas. houston's leading tackler. third and goal. play action -- henne, touchdown! marcedes lewis.

all alone. >> steve: great ball fake, completely blown coverage by the and after all the great effort they put into the goal line stand, they blow it by leaving marcedes lewis uncovered. >> bill: and that's the third touchdown pass for chad henne.

the second touchdown reception for marcedes lewis. >> steve: sharpton is in coverage on lewis and gets caught, after being out for so long, darryl sharpton not up to snuff on his responsibility, got caught looking in the backfield. >> bill: scobee with the extra

point. and we have got a stunner here in houston. the 1-8 jags up to the 8-1 texans and it's been a >> bill: jacksonville able to convert the turnover into 6 points. it took five plays.

marcedes lewis with his second touchdown reception of the afternoon. the texans are behind 27-17. with 6:52 left to go in the third. martin brings it out from 4 yards deep. brought down just across the 25

so matt schaub and >> bill: aerial coverage of reliant stadium provide by directv. the texans take over, 1st and 10. justin forsett, across the 30 to the 31. a gain of 5.

>> steve: no reason here to lose your cool if you are houston. you have the running game and trailing by 10, no question, but there's a lot of football to be played and you can still hand the football off. do not change your game plan. >> bill: no huddle.

texans, schaub. undernea to graham, the tight end and he's got a 1st down. the texans first drive, 22 yards -- in the wrong direction, culminating in the fumble that lead to the touchdown. >> steve: and it's muddle-huddle, not really huddle

but kind of. just raise the tempo a hair. in the seam. and wide open, graham with a big play to the jacksonville 30. >> steve: and the texans have made a point of know being thames and im-- themselves and improving, finding different

ways to win. this is one of those situations, down 10 points where they have to do some special and consistent things to get back in >> bill: 1st and 10 at the 31. the texans on the move. left side, foster. able to keep his feet.

and pushed out of bounds near the 24 by dawan landry. >> steve: again, the running game, it just doesn't go away. you can do a really good job, if you are jacksonville, shut the stretch play down but you still don't get a break. they will hand the football off

in any situation and you've got to be right every time or it turns into a big play. >> bill: the bunched receivers to the right side. they run the toss to forsett, able to get the edge and fights for a 1st down. alualu made the tackle.

>> steve: a great block on the outside by james casey. right here, watch as he gets out in front and just cuts the that's russell allen, gets him right on the ground. you can't make a tackle when you're rolling around on the ground as a defender.

that great job out front by casey. >> bill: good pursuit by alualu. but a 1st down for houston. and schaub to forsett. down to the 12 yard line. >> steve: well, now you can tell the texans have turned up the intensity a little bit.

they have been mistake-free on this drive and they have had purpose. they are in and out. their body language says they are bearing down. and everybody has turned it up a notch and the jacksonville jaguars team has forced them to

>> bill: second and 4. selby made the stop. >> steve: and foster was either scratched or pulled down. selby got up high. and right -- oh, it looked like they called the facemask for less than that earlier in the 1st half.

let's see where he gets him. let's just see. >> bill: they are gonna measure. foster, 13 carries for 51 yards. and this will be short. about a foot short. the season average near 100 yards for foster. the a.f.c.'s lead rusher coming

in. >> steve: the interesting thing, though, they played in chicago in the pouring rainstorm and he had 29 carries for 102. and seven carries in the 4th quarter that only yielded 8 that tells you how committed they are.

29 yards for 102 is not a big day. it's a lot of carries. >> bill: and gary kubiak told us it was one of the best performances he had season from arian foster. >> steve: that's a commitment to the run game.

>> bill: 3rd and 1 here. hit in the hole by posluszny. let's see where they spot the forward progress. >> steve: this is a big spot. they are gonna give them 4th he did not get it. and the texans are gonna go for the 3 points here.

posluszny on the hole on foster, holds him short of the 1st down. and that will force a field goal posluszny, 125 tackles, plus. coming in. he gets a lot of chances to do that, and that was an outstanding tackle on an elite running back at a crucial down.

>> bill: so we'll see shayne graham try the 27-yard field and he's got it. the texans are 0-6 on third down >> bill: 27-20, jacksonville. here late in the third, trying to pull the upset on the road against their foes in the a.f.c. south, the houston texans.

rashad jennings is back deep, awaiting the kick from shayne graham. from a yard deep. and brought down hard at the 12 by braman. a nice special teams play by braman. 7-time pro bowler on special

teams. >> steve: that warms my heart. brings a smile to my face. does i'll admit it. >> bill: chad henne has been spectacular since coming in for blaine gabbert. 12 of 16 for 238 yards and three a pickup of maybe 1.

bradie james made the stop. get coverage of every game from nfl mobile. and the nfl red zone and the 24/7 coverage. go to nfl noble to learn -- mobile to learn more. on their feet here in houston. 2nd and 9.

and that is caught by blackmon who has had a break-through game >> steve: and he looks like a different player with chad henne throwing him the football. i don't know what it is, but he is goes. watch 14, breaking to the outside.

he attacks the football in the air and is doing that better today than i have seen him in the last month. when that ball is in the air, he gets after it. that's why he was drafted, his aggression and his strength at catching the football and today

he's displaying it. >> bill: 5 catches for 140 yards for blackmon. over left tackle. good for a couple. >> steve: this is a play they run a lot with maurice jones-drew, who is not in this they bring the guard around with

the fullback and just explode up through the hole, trying to get movement with size and velocity. and the texans were up to it. that was a hard 2-yard gain with a lot of contact at the end of >> bill: nearing the end of the 3rd quarter. maurice jones-drew looking on

from the jacksonville sideline. he could be back next week. nice hole, left side. parmele is brought town hard across the third to the 32 by james and sharpton, so that's the end of the 3rd quarter. we'll return to uston after >> bill: jacksonville has been

horrible on 3rd down all season, 0-9 in the first meeting in week but today, 3 of 7 on 3rd down. two of those for touchdowns. here facing a 3rd and 4. as we start the final quarter here in houston. chad henne at quarterback. over the head of cecil shorts,

who was well covered. >> steve: cecil shorts broke his route off. a delayed blitz and henne had to get rid of it. but this is shorts, henne throws it over his head. >> bill: well covered by joseph. >> steve: and you see there at

the end, coming in, bradie james, delayed. when the backs stayed in. >> bill: and a tremendous punt. martin back to the 5. oh, what a return! keshawn martin! and brought down by anger, the punter.

the rookie saved a touchdown! >> steve: anger was great on both ends of this kick. he kicked this, unfortunately, so well, nobody could catch up to it to cover. and what a tremendous kick. back to the 6 yard line. the problem she kicked it -- is,

he kicked it so far, but anger makes the tackle at the end. great athletic ability. >> bill: and anger going stride for stride with the speedster. a 62-yard punt and a 71-yard returned and here come the texans, down by a touchdown. right side.

he gets the edge and out of bounds inside the 30. >> steve: i didn't know you had to run a 40 as a punter. i mean, that was outstanding by anger. that was a touchdown that was gonna breng this game to a tie. and anger stops it.

that's all you can ask, and both ends of the kick were great. the kick was sensational. and the houston texans did a nice job of holding the coverage but that sets up houston well but still have work to do, made possible by anger. >> bill: and the texans have had

a battle today against jacksonville -- schaub, intercepted! and the lateral, posluszny gets rid of it. got it to dawan landry and a turnover for the texans. >> steve: that was a bad decision by schaub.

>> bill: threw it behind owen daniels. and jacksonville has the football and the lead. >> bill: paul posluszny with a big play for jacksonville and the jaguars have it after the interception. 1st and 10 from their own 30,

with the lead. 27-20. just under 14 minutes left to parmele alone in the backfield. henne will throw on 1st down -- and finally the texans able to get that pass rush going. j.j. watt. now with 11.5 sacks on the

>> steve: and this is a jailbreak, right down inside. working right on the left tackle. eugene monroe and it's a big hit on the quarterback. henne is gonna be thinking about that one. >> bill: j.j. watt, a candidate

for defensive player of the year. has played through the first two-thirds of the season. second and 16. offsides to the texans, as well. >> bill: a false start is the call. >> referee: still second down.

>> bill: and let's check in with j.b. and ach for an update. >> james: dallas is narrowing the gap. >> bill: down 13-0 at the half. but with 10 unanswered, still trailing 13-10. >> james: 13:23 and counting, left in regulation.

bill and steve. >> bill: thank you, guys. the browns looking for their first win on the road in over a year ago. and jacksonville looking to win here in hustles for the first time since 2009. and almost intercepted by kareem

jackson on the pass intaneded for -- intended for blackmon. >> steve: and jackson under cuts it and just really drops it. that wasunderthrown by henne. and jackson undercut it, got both hands on it and doinkd it off his facemask. >> bill: henne was lucky that

wasn't intercepted. ? a time-out before the snap. henne will head to the >> bill: on their feet here in houston after the time-out, 3rd and 21 for jacksonville. >> bill: henne, lots of time. caught at midfield by blackmon,

still on his feet, justin blackmon! >> steve: during the last time-out we were talking about how conservative we thought the jacksonville jaguars would be with their defense playing good against a tough houston offense. and jacksonville doesn't bat an

eye and goes deep down the middle to the number one draft pick and he pulls it in like it's nothing. breaks a tackle and it's off to the races. the rest of the receiving corps helping him out. what an enormous play.

>> bill: 81 yards on 3rd and 21! scobee on to try the extra and jacksonville extends their lead over the 8-1 houston blackmon, >> bill: justin blackmon came in averaging just under 28 yards a today, 221 on 6 receptions. they were questioning his work

ethic and whether or not the jaguars had made a mistake moving up to number five to take him, the 2-time college receiver of the year out of oklahoma state. but he has nounced himself -- announced himself today against the texans.

and martin looking for another good return. and the texans, back on th heels, could use it. and a look at justin blackmon's >> steve: and none of these is, you know, a simple catch down around his legs on this one and this one up high.

and that led to a field goal. this, of course, the touchdown we just saw a moment ago. all those coming from chad >> bill: meanwhile, there was a flag on the kick. and it was against jacksonville. >> steve: i guess -- and this is something that mike mularkey

will have to address this week and i guess i will go on record. if chad henne doesn't start at quarterback next week, i think they're crazy. i think be the spark -- i think the spark he has given them, coming off the bench, without a week of work.

i think it says a lot about his readiness to lead this offense. >> bill: there's gabbert on the sideline with henne. offsides on jacksonville. so they are gonna rekick. chad henne with 4 seasons in miami, came in, when blaine gabbert reinjured his shoulder

last week. and jacksonville on their only touchdown drive of the night. and today, over 300 yards. 14 of 20. and now four touchdown passes. i think mike mularkey has a quarterback controversy on his hands.

>> steve: the team 1-8 coming so i don't know how much of a controversy there can be. >> bill: they'll rekick it. and martin retreats and will take a knee 6 yar deep in the end zone. they will bring it out to the 20.

jacksonville's best point production this year, by far, coming in they had scored 23 points twice, both of those losses in overtime. now with a 2-touchdown lead with 12:26 left to play in regulation. mularkey, it's been a tough

season for him, coming in after four years in atlanta. but things have really come together today against the matt schaub will try to bring them back. he will throw on 1st down. underneath, owen daniels, dropped immediately.

the tackle made by kyle bosworth, the nephew of the nfl linebacker, by ron bosworth. and it's foster. about a yard short of a 1st mosley made the stop. tomorrow, small town boys meet "2 broke girls." only cbs.

3rd and 1. houston looking for their first conversion on 3rd down. 0-6 so far. foster, the forward progress should get it. posluszny made the stop. >> steve: with 11:19 to go in the 4th quarter, you know be

they are gonna get the football back at least twice more. no reason to go crazy. but you are gonna have to do a lot of things right offensively and defensive. they have to stop the jaguars and they haven't had an answer to the big play the jaguars have

had all day. james casey able to elude one tackle and keep his feet. russell allen finally made the >> steve: you think about what is at stake for the texans, the number one team in the conference, record-wise, chased by baltimore.

and this team, no question, they are thinking much bigger things this season than a division title and a playoff appearance. >> bill: coming off their first appearance in the post season last year. matt schaub had to watch from the bench as they move the

chains. >> steve: you see schaub massaging his throwing hand. he got caught with a defensive lineman. and the quarterbacks often injury their hand -- injure their hand, hitting the helmet of the linemen.

>> bill: schaub, underneath and it's graham about two yards short of the 1st down. that was good for 8 yards. >> steve: and this is why houston is so good. they can beat you just throwing they can beat you just running the football and they can

certainly beat you when they can do both with the game plan. now with the two touchdowns, that may take out the running game a little bit. >> bill: and again it's graham. garrett graham. >> steve: there's the area they are working getting the

receivers in between the hashs. as the defenders drop back to defend, they drop out of one area and just right where the receiver steps into. >> bill: graham with 5 catches for 57 yards. a little deeper in the seam. >> bill: and back to graham who

hangs on to the football. >> steve: and that's the flag we thought we might see earlier. it's a defenseless receiver getting hit up high. >> bill: 19 yards on the play. and they may tack on a little more. >> steve: this is a big time

play by graham. that is a really, really tough catch at the highest level. >> bill: committee meeting by the officials. clock stops with 9:03 left to go in regulation. >> steve: and he caught it up high and that's an easy call.

>> referee: penalty is half the distance to the goal line. >> steve: and landry looked like he tried to turn sideways. i will tip my hat to him. he did not try to go helmet to helmet. he tried to hit him with the shoulder and side of his body

but it was just at the wrong angle and it's a lot to ask of the defender and that's why when the rule came out they were complaining about it. he tried to do everything right but it ended up with the penalty, anyway. >> b they spot it down at

the 12. they can get a 1st down at the 2. the texans trail by 14. inside of 9 minutes left to go foster, left side, dips in and inside the 10, pushed out of bounds, close to the 9, by derek cox.

>> steve: and we move inside the 8:30 mark of the 4th quarter, it becomes more and more imperative for the texans to do something they haven't been able to do all game long and that's play mistake-free. turnovers, fumbles. i think their entire playbook is

open right here, runs and passes. >> bill: no sense of urgency from houston. empty backfield. and 2nd and 7. he's gonna be about a yard short. >> steve: you get in a tight

game in the 4th quarter, the type of play you call becomes irrelevant. it's who do you want to have the football? that's the guy, andre johnson and arian foster. nobody else. if you want to win a game, go to

your best players. ill: so 3rd and a short 1. and he's gonna get the 1st down. but short of the goal line. >> steve: and gary kubiak, a former quarterback and cut his teeth as an offensive coordinator, backed up john elway, he knows what it takes to

win a championship and when the chips are on the table and you have to have an ace in your hand to turn over, andre johnson and arian foster are two pretty good aces. >> bill: they spot it just inside the 1, 1st and goal. very good drive by the texans,

trying to come back from a 14-point deficit. can't get it. denied the end zone by posluszny. >> steve: it's gonna be 2nd but as we saw earlier, you watch, just a power run game. right in behind casey.

now jacksonville has to think about this. houston can fake the run and throw it here in this situation and it really puts a lot of pressure on the jacksonville >> bill: look at policy. he -- posluszny. he has had a great game.

blood on his face. no. >> steve: oh, he dropd the ball -- though, they called him down. >> bill: just short of the goal line again. >> steve: and you see selvie ends up with it in the end zone. >> bill: the jacksonville

defense just swarming. >> steve: oh, that ball is out. >> bill: let's see what they >> steve: i don't know. to me, thatball comes -- that ball comes loose and didn't seem down to me. that's a very close call. >> bill: no challenge and no

review. 3rd and goal. touchdown! >> bill: garrett graham all alone. he slipped free. >> steve: and that play was set up by those three hard runs to begin the series on 1st and

three hard runs, arian foster, that didn't get in. you see what it did to paul bloodied his face. and graham comes wide open in the back of the end zone as they fake the run on that down. >> bill: schaub with his third touchdown pass of the game.

makes it a 7-point game again. 5:39 left to go in the forty. the texans -- in the 4th quarter. the texans >> bill: posluszny a moment ago, blood streaming from the bridge of his nose, trying to stop the bleeding.

it's leak the corner in boxy. >> steve: "cut me, mick." >> bill: polsluszny has had a great game and left it all out on the field and maybe more. brought down hard after a nice last week phil simms questioned whether or not eli was an elite quarterback.

and tomorrow check out "monday q.b." only on cbs sports network, the 24-hour home of cbs sports. graham with the touchdown catch, culminating way 14-play- a 14-play drive. and it's bradie james making the to j.b. and coach for cleveland

and dallas. >> james: bryant. >> bill: the tale of two halves and it's a 28-yard touchdown and 17-13, dallas leads. >> james: career best receiving yards for bryant. back to bill and steve. >> bill: like justin blackmon,

having a big day. the cowboys trying to get to 5-5 and win back-to-back games for the first time this season. and that's up the road in here, the jaguars are trying to pull the upset. 2nd and 6, parmele stacked up. a pickup of maybe one.

they'll bring up 3rd down. glover quinmade the stop. >> steve: no question that jacksonville has to get this 1st with 4:30 and counting, they have to stay on point. they will have to put this in the air. and they are not gonna pick up a

3rd and 4 in the 4th quarter of this game trying to punch it in there with the run game. henne has to put it up. >> bill: the jaguars have been dangerous on 3rd down. steps in. batted away. tried to hit justin blackmon.

maybe a little behind him. >> steve: that went right off blackmon's helmet. it had too much velocity on it. henne, just a little bit -- and that's a rub right there, an illegal pick play that wasn't called. henne put too much on it.

he could feel the pressure and that's what happens when the quarterback scarts to feel the -- starts to feel the pressure. >> bill: and blackmon unable to pick up the football. and it's keshawn martin calling for the fair catch about the 10 a 53-yard punt by bryan anger.

and 3:52 left to go for matt schaub and the texans. >> steve: and henne feels the pressure. he knows he has to get rid of it and puts too much on it for blackmon. >> bill: and that was antonio smeth coming -- smith coming

hard, and he is a guy who often gets overshadowed by j.j. watt but he's been outstanding. so 90 yards to go. just under 4 minutes to do it for the houston texans. they trail 34-27. schaub on 1st down. who else?

>> steve: like we said a moment ago, you don't think play selection. you think player. and andre johnson is a number one guy. they go five wides. they give no indication, no threat of a run and again, all

five wide. another completion and another this time it's kevin walter. >> steve: and in these chunks of field, making it possible for houston to get down there but now if they keep breaking off chunks of yardage, the clock will cease to be a factor in the

play selection or even in the fact they want to hurry. >> bill: houston texans with all three time-outs remaining. iels into jacksonville territory, finally wrestled >> steve: there you have it. they are gonna continue to go hurry up.

they will go muddle-huddle here. they have plenty enough time to get down close for a touchdown but they have to play >> bill: five receivers in the pattern. shawn bryson. -- schaub to walter. schaub is not really a threat to

run with the football but sure makes a lot of plays with his feet. and that's a man down, the linebacker, russell allen. >> steve: it looked like he either got something in his eye or -- once again, the jacksonville

jaguars giving the texans the middle of the football field to throw, if they so desire. schaub extends the play, coming out of the pocket and finds walter pivoting back up the field. >> bill: 2:21 left in the fourth.

russell allen opened the season as a starter at outside linebacker for the first time in his career, came in ranked second on the team with tackles. let's see if we can pick up what happened. >> steve: i think he got hit in the solar plex us or something.

looked ken walter's heel came up on his breast plate. and if that happened, that hurts. i've experienced that. >> steve: and that hurts. >> bill: the crowd didn't like it because that slowed the texans' momentum.

they were in a rhythm on >> steve: once again, staying empty. >> bill: schaub is 12 of 12 since he threw that sprention. to the -- interception. to the sideline, johnson steps out of bounds at the 21. >> steve: now they are gonna

huddle up. schaub will have a chance to look his guys in the eye and talk to them. andre johnson, you have a guy, as we said over and over, caught so many passes for so many yards, you have to respect him. cox staying on top of johnson.

>> bill: again, empty backfield, and schaub over the middle of and it's johnson again. >> bill: fights his way close to the 6. and that will take us to the 2-minute warning. as the texans have come storming back.

here at home. >> bill: back in houston, where as you can see there's a jacksonville player, william middleton, down on the field. the nickel back. >> steve: late in the play came to clean up on the tackle from johnson and he hits his own

teammate, defensive teammate. and that, as we said earlier in the game, it happens so often to these guys. you see c.j. mosley coming in to help. >> bill: so being helped off the meanwhile, matt schaub on the drive, a drive that started at

texans 10 yard line and they have efficiently marched down >> steve: you think back to the last time, just a few moments ago, they were down here 1st and goal and 7:40 left on the game clock. they ran the football twice and all of a sudden, lost 2 minutes

of game on the clock because of the two running plays. so now they're down to the 2-minute warning, back inside and ideally, you've got time left. >> bill: 1st and goal for from the 7. maybe a yard.

just inside the 6. >> steve: once again, i think be right now the way they are going, they are kind of going no huddle but their able or desire to run the football tells me they want to score a touchdown with no time left. >> bill: and the play action,

the other direction -- >> bill: and garrett graham has been the ace in the hole for the 8 catches, 82 yards, and that his second touchdown reception of the game. >> steve: they have been totally unsuccessful running close in and that play action, once

again, works to perfection. >> bill: shayne graham on to tie it up. and the texans come storming right back. 34-34. as chad henne gets ready to go back to work. >> steve: the play action pass

to foster from the opposite side on the line of scrimmage, all the way across. graham just sneaks out, catches it and turns into the end zone, just gets lost in coverage. >> bill: i am not sure how many people thought this game would be tied inside of 2 mutes.

we have had big upsets in the arizona over neengland in week missed 42-yard field goal try late. and new orleans with the winning shot in overtime. and then reggie wayne with a 4-yard touchdown pass from andrew luck to beat the packers.

so chad henne, who has been outstanding. >> bill: four touchdown passes. he'll have a chance to bring the jaguars down the field for the win. and they will take it out to the as rashad jennings takes a knee. >> steve: well, the jacksonville

jaguars have stayed in this game because of the big play and their willingness to call it and go deep on the houston, texasan with 1:34 and two time-outs, they have all the time they need to get in field goal range but they will have to air it out to >> bill: josh scobee with 59

yards, his career long. >> steve: and it's perfect conditions in which to kick. >> bill: jacksonville with two time-outs remaining. henne, incomplete. just behind spurlock who >> steve: spurlock right there, working.

trying to get open across the henne, once again, puts a little bit too much on that. >> bill: telling everyone the that's what's tough about having your backup quarterback, he doesn't run the 2-minute offense generally. that'll bring up 3rd down.

>> steve: once again, houston's gonna bring some pressure. six guys rushing the passer. and mccane gets the hit and that ba has to come out in time. that negates henne's ability to throw the big play down the field that they have been so successful at early in this

contest. they can't do that in henne is facing a blitz every shot. >> bill: the officials are huddling because the stadium clock may have kept going. they might have to reset the time. they are gonna have to have a

huddle about how much time. the official time is kept on the >> referee: we are checking on the accuracy of the game clock. >> steve: well, if the clock says00, it's inaccurate. >> bill: republic) laughs] >> bill: it will be 3rd and 10

for jacksonville. the clock won't necessarily be a factor if they are unable to convert here. certainly not for jacksonville. it will be for the texans who could come away from this in pretty good field position. >> bill: the clock showing 1:30

at the moment. clete blakeman is our referee today. >> steve: and trying to get the crowd pumped up, making it difficult for jacksonville. >> steve: jacksonville going incompletion on their first two downs, which stopped the clock,

which makes it so the texans could keep their time-outs intact. they still have three time-outs. >> bill: we believe this is accurate at this point. but there was an incomplete and the clock continued to run. so now they are gonna sort

things through, talk to gary kubiak. >> steve: 1:30 seems a lot. >> referee: here's the situation. the game clock in the north end zone is not functioning. however the east and west do function.

the correct time is 1::30 on the game clock and we will use those to thyme the rest of the -- time the rest of the game. >> bill: the complete explanation from clete blakeman. >> steve: so the one we showed wasn't accurate and that's the reason.

we take ours from the north and south end zone. >> bill: so 1:30 left in the tied game. 3rd and 10 for jacksonville. j.j. watt is ready. and the officials are huddling once again. >> steve: there's no question

it's given both clubs a chance to confer on the sidelines about what's gonna happen next so both clubs should have their calls ready to go. the momentum, i mean, this is really difficult for a player. you just had two great defensive plays for the houston texans.

and now everything stops. you kind of calm down. you get the crowd into a frenzy. they get tired of cheering and quiet down again. >> referee: 1:25. >> bill: they make an adjustment of 5 seconds. so 1:25 left in the 4th quarter.

and here we go. >> bill: the corner blitz, henne, underneath. spurlock, short of the 1st down. jonathan joseph wrapped him up. >> steve: well, this forces houston to take their time-out, stop the clock. and you've got -- i mean, this

is a catch and you think spurlock has got to find a way to get the 1st down. either go past the sticks to catch it or not. but now you force anger to punt and you can bet he will try to get it out of the end zone. >> bill: keshawn martin has had

some good returns. but anger has had some good punts. >> steve: one critical thing here is this: the only way that jacksonville can get burned on this play is if he outkicks his coverage and they give up a big he may kick it alongside the

>> bill: relatively short kick. brought down at around the 35. that was a 43-yard punt. and a 6-yard return. >> steve: and two time-outs left for matt schaub. they need the 35 yard line. that's for doable. and jacksonville has to be

cringing at the fact they couldn't get a 1st down a moment ago. >> bill: houston, two time-outs. 1:07 remaining in regulation. >> steve: outstanding field position for houston incomplete >> bill: empty backfield, schaub has been brilliant since the

lofts it and it's caught by andre johnson! >> steve: we said it time and again. it's not about play selection in this situation. it's about players. andre johnson has carried this offense in the 4th quarter and

matt schaub has looked at him almost exclusively. in early situation and crucial situations on these drives. he hasn't scored the touchdowns. >> gus: and a huge game for andre johnson, over 200 yards as they keep it on the ground on foster, inside the 30.

and the texans will take a no question that andre johnson is headed to the hall of fame, 12 catches today, 214 yards. shayne graham is getting ready. >> steve: those two guys. >> bill: andre johnson was taken in the second year of the franchise, had a chance to go

other places for more money, felt a loyalty to the franchise and a loyalty to the fans here he is a soft-spoken guy, works hard on the field. and he wanted to stay and see this thing through. >> steve: and what that says about andre johnson, he is a

rare individual, a rare athlete and a rare human being and i think the fans here in houston appreciate him greatly. >> bill: 16 straight completions for schaub. johnson, a career high 214 again, on the ground. dawan landry finally brought him

>> steve: and as we said -- as you look at andre johnson and you just witnessed arian foster carry the ball once again, those are the guys the team leans on, no matter what, when it comes down to crucial moments in the those guys have their hand on >> bill: they stop the clock

with 5 seconds remaining in put it on the leg of this man, shayne graham. houston trying to keep that position for the next month and a half. trying to move their record to 9-1. they would love to have home

field advantage throughout the post season. >> steve: and we try to be clairvoyant, houston, you think about the championship game, would the texans rather play inside this building or go to implement, maryland -- baltimore, maryland and walk in

and play the ravens on that field? that's what's at stake. >> bill: from 42 yards out. whilse (whistle) d.>> bill: we might have had movement before the snap. we had a whistle so that kick will not count.

>> steve: if that's a penalty -- they are gonnatry to decipher who this is on. this is critical. >> referee: false start, offense, number 62. 5-yard penalty. still 3rd down. >> steve: the reason, you heard

it, it's a good thing the clock was stuck. they have been in a hurry-up mode and somebody is gonna twitch. you will see them move their hand. it was the long snapper and the guard, right there.

>> bill: it was caldwell. so now a 47-yard field goal try. to break the tie. >> steve: he missed it. >> bill: didn't have a chance. a knuckler. and we are gonna go to overtime. >> steve: that was not even he shanked that one.

hooked it. knuckle balled it. it did not look like anybody touched it. it looked like it came off poorly. i think he just miss hit it. badly. >> bill: you wonder how much the

five extra yards had to do with the psyche of shayne graham. trying to put a little bit extra behind the football. >> steve: he missed the net. as they called the illegal procedure penalty, they went ahead and went through the operation and he hit the

37-yarder like it was nothing. >> bill: only his third missed field goal of the season. one of the most accurate kickers and a look at the overtime rules: >> bill: a t.d. or a safety on the first possession wins the >> referee: overtime situation,

we'll play up to 1 15-minute period. you both have the opportunity to possess the ball, unless the first team on offense scores or a safety. all replays initiated upstairs. again, the head is the helmet. the t is for todd haley todd

haleys. and you want the ball. which way to kick? >> that way. >> referee: houston wins the toss and will receive. >> bill: the texans will have the football to start the overtime period.

and after the missed field goal try by shayne graham, >> bill: heading to overtime jacksonville trying to win for the first time here at reliant stadium since 2009. the texans will have the football to start overtime. a lot of terrific story lines in

this game. tough, physical contest. lots of offense. and we end the 4th quarter tied at 34. chad henne came on early. for blaine gabbert, 15 of 24 for 339 yards. and four touchdowns.

and the rookie, blackmon, six receptions for 221 yards. thinks about ttakes a knee -- it, takes a knee. so they will bring it to the 20 and that's where the texans will go, 1st and 10. you talk about how this game ended and it was with five wide,

empty backfield, down the football field. and will they threaten with the running game or stick what has been working lately? they will leave arian foster in the backfield. >> bill: 32 first downs for the texans in regulation.

and johnson with a nice little move across the 30 to the 31. that'll be a 1st down. continuing to add to his total. >> steve: you see the pressure. and this is one of the reasons why the houston texans and their fans are so excited about this when things get rough, they have

dependable, proven players they can put the ball in the hands of and expect results. >> bill: 17 straight completions and the streak is broken. as he tried to go underneath to graham and incomplete. but matt schaub for the day, 423 >> steve: once again, play

action with the bootleg away from the pursuit, gives him plenty of time. to throw that football. >> bill: take a look at the two receivers, justin blackmon, a break-through game, the rookie out of oklahoma state. andre johnson doing once again

what we have seen him do so often. the two teams combined over 900 yards of offense. and it's arian foster, close to the 1st down but about a yard >> steve: once again, schaub just dumping the football into the middle of the fersion.

neither team wants to get beaten by a big pray so i think they are -- play, so they are retreating with extra haste and leaving the middle of the defense vulnerable and schaub's taking advantage of it. >> bill: 3rd and 1. the first possession in the

>> steve: oh, wow. he got it. >> bill: somehow able to keep his feet. and gets the 1st down. by about a yard. >> steve: once again, he's one of those proven veteran players. you put the ball in his hands

and you get results. foster and johnson, the two guys, when the came is tight, down to the end and now in overtime, those to guys really are the only two guys it looks like they are willing to throw the football to. >> bill: foster, 25 carries for

62 yards. schaub, short drop. to midfield, owen daniels who missed last week with a back injury. >> steve: once again, the vulnerable middle of the defense exposed and schaub perfectly willing to find his dependable

tight end right in the middle. >> bill: six catches for 57 yards. spotted right at midfield. a nice gain and a 1st down. close to the 43. derek cox finally brought him >> steve: it seems to me jacksonville has decided their

safeties are gonna stay back and make sure they don't give up the big play. not quit as quick on -- quite as quick to get the to running game and that's why arian foster is able to slice between the cornerback and the wide the safeties are staying back to

protect against the big pray. -- the big play. >> bill: a touchdown wins the a field goal and the jaguars will get a chance. foster again. derek cox once again on the >> steve: and foster will get a breather.

forsett will come in and you can better foster will take one or two plays off and then get back >> bill: and forsett has had a nice day. 58 yards. >> steve: it'll be interesting to see if they call forsett's number.

he is fresh and rested. >> bill: off-set "i." second and 7 and it's schaub to walter. that'll move the chains inside the third, close to the 28, a gain of 12. >> steve: once again, starting inside, going to a wide route

and creating space with his route and then breaking back, giving schaub a really good target. >> bill: kyle bosworth made the stov. >> steve: and making sure they don't give up the big pass playbut giving them the short

yardage. >> bill: schaub over 450 yards. foster accelerates to the 22. again, cox with the stop. >> steve: one once again, we talk about it earlier in the game, this running game of the texans, they are so committed to it and do it so well and so

versatile that even in the 4th quarter in overtime you have to jump on it and almost have to sell out to start -- to stop it. >> bill: so foster goes to the sidelines. justin forsett back in. the "i" formation. a toss back to him.

left side. hit hard. just short of the 20 yard line by prosinski, the free safety. >> steve: and the jaguars before that play faced 83 offensive plays by houston. they are getting tired and it's starting to show here in

overtime and believe me, we have seen an outstanding effort by jacksonville in all aspects of their game. but now it seems as though they have left it all on the field. they've got nothing left for the extra period. they are really starting to show

signs of fatigue. >> bill: and schaub strolls over and takes a time-out. with 9:10 left to go in overtime. it's been a game of big plays. so far. off the first drive, the touchdown pass to keshawn

and then gabbert went down after a big hit and chad henne stepped in and he was spectacular, a big play to cecil shorts. and that was resulting in a touchdown and then to the rookie, blackmon, able to keep he scored. the texans keeping up, graham

with his first touchdown catch of the day and then the missed field goal try by shayne graham. and now we are in overtime. very balanced on this drive. five rushes. five passes. 59 yards. facing 3rd and 2.

to the end zone, the receiver fell down. looking for a flag. >> steve: he did. he got pulled down and the flag came in. there was no question, it was a good job by aaron ross -- not good that he got smoked on the

outside but a smart play. that was a touchdown for the houston texans and ross did the right thing, the veteran thing. he got beat was he was not going to lose the game. >> bill: aaron ross in his sixth >> referee: pass interference, defense, number 31.

the ball will be placed at the spot of the foul. >> steve: watch as keenan mccardells is gonna run -- keshawn martin runs the route and ross knew he was had. he just didn't want to cost the game on that play. >> bill: so, remember, a

touchdown ends it. a field goal, and jacksonville foster, the deep back. walter in motion. schaub lofts it. just out of the reach of owen daniels who ied to adjust to the football but couldn't bring it in.

>> steve: such a tough route to complete. schaub has to release it very, very early. and the ball is in the air before daniels establishes an angle. so shot blocks picks -- schaub picks where he thinks daniels is

coming out and daniels can't make the adjustment. >> bill: that'll bring up 2nd the texans would like to end it right here. the first possession of the but a touchdown will win it. pump fake to the other side to foster, trying to get it in

space. and the jaguars were ready, brought down at the seven by bosworth. that'll bring up 3rd and goal. >> steve: andre johnson on the quintslant. -- quick slant and you can't see the safety who was from waiting

on him and that was why he stopped and didn't continue inside. but you can bet the attention of the jaguar defense is on number 80 and 23. schaub guns it. andre johnson, the intended and derek cox made a great play.

>> steve: he certainly did. deliberate back shoulder throw. watch as cock gets his eyes, turns towards him and his hand there to break it up. that's well defended by cox who took the bad penalty. he gave his team the chance to stay alive and force the field

goal opportunity. >> bill: so graham on to try the 25-yard field goal. and he gets that one. so that means jacksonville will get an opportunity. 8:10 left in the overtime period. both quarterbacks have been

brilliant today. >> steve: one of the aspects when the new overtime rules, now that jacksonville gets the football, they are in total 4-down territory. they are never gonna punt this football away and it gives them the distinct advantage, knowing

they have a 4th down. and the houston texans defense, they have to defend every down to the bitter end to get the offense off the field. that's why there was a big debate when they put the rules in effect that teams could let others have the football first

but it hasn't turned out that way. most coaches want their hands on defense able to stiffen when they had to. the first time in nfl history having two players with 200 yard receiving games. justin blackmon and andre

blackmon, 221. and johnson a career high 225 yards receiving on 13 catches. >> steve: i have to say, that's kind of neat. and since the start of the 4th quarter, the houston texans with 40 offense plays. and the jaguars, 10.

>> bill: and now they've put up 3 in the overtime period. and jacksonville will get the ball. jennings from the 3. jennings, nice return across the 30. chad henne. 339 yards today and four

jacksonville's only win this season came in week three. at indianapolis. they were trailing late in the fourth and blaine gabbert found cecil shorts who takes it 80 yards for the touchdown. and jacksonville came away with the victory.

>> bill: they will need a field goal to extend the overtime. a touchdown will win it. just over 8 minutes remaining in the overtime period. henne off the play action, steps up. and runs out of bounds. at the 36 yard line.

scrambles for 4. bringing a 5-man rush. henne feels it, immediately steps up, has nobody available and he knows he is gonna run it right away. >> bill: he didn't slide. he lowered the shoulder. so 2nd and 6 for jacksonville.

trying to answer the texans' >> gus: henne with time. gets rid of it. in and out of the hands of >> steve: and there's a flag in >> bill: back at the 27 yard >> referee: defense, against the quarterback, number 94. a 15-yard penalty.

>> bill: they will call that on antonio smith. >> steve: he hit the oh, yeah. hands to the face. came up across the facemask. and that's -- you can't do that. >> bill: that will be a costly penalty.

it'll move the ball into houston territory. >> steve: kind of negates the bad drop by marcedes lewis. >> bill: spot it at the texans 40 yard line. parmele is the deep back. they'll give it to him on 1st no running game.

fights to get back to the line of scrimmage. bradie james led the charge. >> steve: and this is interesting because as much as we have spoken about the players, not plays, the same is true for the jacksonville although their best player,

maurice jones-drew, is not in their backup quarterback is taking the snaps. but they've got a guy with 200 yards receiving in blackmon. i think that's the guy you try and find. >> steve: the pressure comes right away as henne has to get

james comes right up the center. nobody steps down to block him. and bringing one extra guy than they can block. >> bill: and barwin with a hand on the football. it'll be 3rd and 10. >> steve: and like i mentioned a moment ago, they have to downs.

they are not gonna punt it. >> bill: they need a field goal to extend the overtime period. batted away again. and almost intercepted. take another look. >> steve: the texans, although the texans have not invented batting passes down, it seems as

though they are the team in the nfl that has perfected it and in overtime, with the pressure they bring, it's just one added obstacle that jacksonville has got to overcome on this last opportunity to extend play. smith who got a hand on it. so we've got a time-out on the

it'll be 4th down for they have fought hard. unable to hold a 2-touchdown lead as theitancy were able -- the texans were able to storm and the last time a 1-8 team beat an 8-1 team was in '86. the chargers beat the broncos. remember, earlier the jags had

the 81-yard touchdown pass on 3rd down and 1. they have to get close to the 38 that's caught! and a 1st down. how about blackmon with another big catch? 15 yards to justin blackmon. >> steve: it seems the

philosophy holds through. you got a guy you can depend on, that's who gets the ball in the clutch and blackmon, over 200 yards, plus, plus and a great catch with a critical, game-changing moment. >> bill: and the jaguars able to keep it alive.

from the houston 34. lots of running room! down inside the 10! 28 yards on the run. >> steve: they bring the extra offensive lineman. and the right tackle all the way over on the left side. they put the extra offensive

lineman to the wrong side of the football and it catches the texans off guard. the players lined up at the right tackle was actually a tight end and the texans got caught. >> bill: so 1st and goal from blackmon in motion.

not that time. parmele runs into j.j. watt. >> steve: j.j. watt just slices in between the tackle-guard gap. and before he can step down and make the block, guy whimper can't block him and he's past what an explosion move. >> bill: a touchdown ends it.

a field goal, and we go on. 2nd and goal from the 10. empty backfield for >> steve: time-out, houston. >> bill: the texans are gonna take a time-out. the guys on defense catching their breath for a moment. what a game this has been here

the texans lead it in overtime, 37-34. the jaguars are threatening. >> steve: and wade phillips needing the time-out. they were just a little bit unsure as to the alignment and personnel on the field for jacksonville so they taick the

quick -- take the quick time-out to iron out who has who. the crucial thing for a defense here is, no question, the offense is gonna line up but if they go in motion or shift, they have a check package and if somebody doesn't get the check, they leave a guy running free.

and if they don't have the right personnel in the first place, they have no chance. they had to take the time-out to make sure. and now they've got confusion on jacksonville's side in the >> bill: and it's spurlock, a little uncertain.

they snap it anyway. >> steve: they took a time-out. mike mularkey ran to get the total confusion by henne. >> referee: a second time-out. the finally time-out. a 30-second time-out. >> bill: so both teams out of time-outs now in the overtime.

>> steve: and that was interesting. up here, it's mike mularkey taking the time-out. and as confused as houston was, took the time-out, that's how confused jacksonville was with the alignment. and henne couldn't get it done

quick because of the noise. >> bill: so they will reset on >> bill: and movement before the and everybody be a little jittery. offense, number 75. still 2nd down. >> bill: that was eugene monroe, who has played an outstanding

game against the tough houston texans front. >> steve: mike mularkey singled him out as a guy who has played really well during the rough stretch. and watch as he will move. that's all it takes. he started too quickly.

there's blackmon. >> bill: from the 15. the texan defense has really come to life. >> steve: the last few sets of downs. jacksonville hasn't beenably to throw the footll on first and second down.

both batted down. >> bill: and antonio smith got a hand on it. 3rd and goal. 3 of henne's touchdown passes have come on 3rd down. slant, behind shorts. >> steve: that's gonna lead to the field goal.

to extend overtime. >> bill: cox says, "no, no, no." >> steve: and again, henne just behind -- that was tipped by watt, as well. wasn't behind the receiver. watt got another piece of it. unbelievable job by those defensive linemen of houston.

>> bill: so to extend the overtime period, here comes scobee from 33 yards out. and on we go. scobee under pressure. converts the field goal. we're tied at 37. 4:21 left in the overtime >> steve: and both teams have

used both time-outs. no reason or no way to stop the clock unless they do it by spiking it. >> bill: chad henne, who has done a marvelous job and so has matt schaub, who has thrown 50 times for 455 yards. four touchdowns.

the one interception. a spectacular day of offense. the teams over 1,000 yards, steve, combined. houston, 568 and jacksonville, 458. >> steve: and coming into today, the houston texans had run 315 times and only 3 thrown it 280.

it's a flip-flop today. >> bill: and next, it's andrew luck and the surprising colts tackling tom brady and the new england patriots or san diego and denver. check the game in your area. and the patriots game, 7-7 as we are in overtime here in houston.

keshawn martin 3 yards deep. san diego, by the way to give you another update, they lead 7-0. scobee boots it. martin will attack a knee -- take a knee, 6 yards deep. they will bring it to the 20. take a look at that offense

>> steve: that's a lot of plays. that is a lot of plays. 148 plays. jacksonville giving the houston defense, which is a very, very good defense, all they could handle today. and i think surprising a lot of people, no question, everybody

in this building. >> bill: so the next score wins. and, remember, when these two teams met in week two, jacksonville set a franchise record for total yards with 117. that's caught over the middle by >> steve: and think how the strategy has changed for

they will never punt and all they need is a field goal to not to extend it. if any team scores in any fashion, they win the game from this point out. >> bill: 8 yards on 1st down. 2nd and2 for the texans. to the sideline.

and it's the third catch of the >> steve: and they are in 4-down territory and they can choose to punt and have their defense come out. they are not forced to take the 4th down but they have the option, knowing they have no game after that if it reaches

double 00, this game ends in a tie. derek cox. what a play! andre johnson was the intended and cox just stepped in front of him and picked it off. >> steve: and andre johnson thinks he was interfered with.

that ball was underthrown, in my opinion. johnson got loose. but schaub, as he drops back, he feels the pressure, can't step into it as much as you would leak to. and watch this, johnson gets loose, the ball needs to be high

and outside. it was inside and a little short and cox got his hands on it. cox, who -- yeah, you see how he threw that off his back foot, moving away from his target. and that's why the ball was underthrown. >> bill: and that was a big one.

the jaguars are back in business in houston territory. cecil shorts was just turning around when the ball sailed by >> steve: that's a backup quarterback working witha as good as henne has been, there have been moments when you can tell he has not had very many

reps. but this is a moment when the jacksonville jaguars can, in the midst of a very rough season, make themselves feel really good about coming in and beating this football team, if they can get it done. >> bill: the season long field

goal for scobee, 50. wack to the line of scrimmage -- back to the line of scrimmage. >> steve: i think those are consecutive play call -- conservative play calls. i don't think the run defense has shown the vulnerablity it had.

put the ball in chad henne's hands, spread football field call quick release patterns, so they can't bat it down and you don't take a sack. >> bill: henne, 354 yards off the bench. >> bill: 3rd and 10. and it's robinson with a quiet

day, tryingy to get it and he was well wovered by ball. >> steve: and ball, a double move. and he comes down. yeah, it was a great catch -- it looked like it would be a great catch by robinson. but on 4th down, they are

staying on the football field. if they are gonna do it, throw. >> bill: they need the 37 yard line for the 1st down. >> steve: they are playing to win, not to tie. they are definitely going for the win. with time.

went through a lot of hands before it hit the turf. and the ball will go over on downs with 2:30 remaining in >> steve: trying to hit blackmon and just too many defenders between hem and the football. -- him and the football and it's root through the hands of

manning, right to the turf. >> bill: daniel manning had a big game last week in chicago. >> steve: you're looking at about 23 yards to get in comfortable field position for a field goal if you are houston. >> bill: so 1st and 10 for the 2:30 left to go in overtime.

that's caught by walter. dropped immediately in jacksonville territory. a pickup of 5. >> steve: they will go no huddle. neither team with a time-out left in the overtime. the texans, a field goal, a

score of any kind wins it. >> bill: johnson, and it's andre johnson! here he goes! >> bill: touchdown! to cap a brilliant day! >> steve: as we said all three the 4th quarter, you don't think play selection.

you don't think run or pass. andre johnson, the veteran receiver that has been a part of this team for his entire career has stuck around through thenning and thin -- thick and thin. and when the chips were down and the gamut line -- game on the

line, came and again they look for him. >> bill: 48 yards on the game-winning touchdown pass from schaub to johnson. schaub ends up with 527 yards. and 5 touchdowns. andre johnson, 14 catches for a
